Club West Youth Track, formerly Sandpipers, was formed
in 1970 to promote track and field for the youth of Santa Barbara
and surrounding communities. It offers training and competition
in the various events of track and fields for youths born in
1995 through 2002, and there are no tryouts. Club West
Youth Track is sanctioned by USA Track & Field (USATF),
the national governing body of Track & Field. A portion of
the athletes registration fee will purchase the athlete's membership
into USATF. Leadership is provided by USATF certified,
Club West, and Kid Safe coaches. Practices will begin in
early-February 2009 and will be held at the San Marcos High School
track (see Practice

Purpose Statement:
“Club West Youth Track believes in the teaching
of the fundamentals of track and field by age appropriate levels
while promoting a team environment. Over the season, the Club
West Youth Track team will participate in a variety of track
meets in Santa Barbara and other cities to demonstrate their
acquired skills.”
The CLUB’s goals are to encourage and help young
people to develop physically, emotionally and socially through
their involvement in track and field. They will improve their
physical conditioning as they learn skills related to track and
field. They will build a positive self-image as they recognize
their individual achievements. They will be part of a team that
encourages and promotes the development of friendships, support
and encouragement of fellow athletes, good sportsmanship and
a good time.
Any youth in our community who are interested in learning and
participating in track and field are encouraged to join. For
additional information or questions, please contact Katy McDaniel
at katymcdaniel1 at cox dot net.
