NOTES:

  1. There will be a mandatory parent meeting during practice on Wednesday, Feburary 3rd, beginning at 4:15.
  2. Practices will be held unless it is raining (a light sprinkle doesn’t count).
  3. Athletes need to be at practice on time and ready to go so they can participate in the warm-up and stretching period at the beginning of each practice.  Parents should be punctual so athletes are picked up promptly at the conclusion of practice. It is expected that athletes will come to practice ready to work and learn.

Practice Schedule

Each practice will be structured as follows:

  • Warm ups and stretching
  • Events/conditioning training per day for each practice, for each week (see below)
  • Cool down/stretching
  • Clean up / put away

The first two weeks of practice will be used to assess the number of kids, their ages and interest, and abilities.  After that, practices will be run based on a schedule to be put together by the coaches; the schedule will be sent home with your athletes.  Gremlins and Bantams will be cycled through all events, except long distance running, to expose these young athletes to the various track and field events.  Midget and Youth events will be tailored to their personal interests.  Practices will be structured.  The fitness of the kids will be assessed every month to gauge their progress.

What to Bring

    • Athletes MUST wear appropriate running shoes at each practice.  To avoid injuries, no skate shoes will be allowed. Spikes will be allowed for Midgets and Youths during competition or by Coaches approval. (3/16” or less). Do not purchase spikes without consulting your Coach first.  Do not wear spikes “to” the track.  Bring them with you. Most practice sessions will be run on running shoes.  Again, please NO street shoes.
    • Athletes MUST come dressed in appropriate clothing for the conditions (i.e., light weight running shirt and shorts for warmer conditions, jacket and/or sweatpants for cooler or wet conditions).  We encourage you to MARK ALL CLOTHING.
    • WATER BOTTLES ARE MANDATORY for each practice.
